Green walls surround me, and I’m aiming for the sky.
Turkish delight and Moon River.
Lead with goodbye as if we’re saving the hellos
To finish last.
Here I go again, my eyes they start to wander.
Here’s the feeling and the shiver.
My chance to ponder if what she’s saying
Is in fact real.

But what good does it all do?
Escapism of desperate proportions.
We always bring it back to life, like
One of Houdini’s contortion… tricks.
And you’re uttering these words I can’t comprehend
Until my eyes are off the prize and my heart is on the mend
You worry for me and I worry about you
But what good does it all do?
If you’re alone.

Grins of the others, like furry animals inside.
The false the true and non-believer.
Sat in the comfort of her living room
Staring at fire.
When all around is melting like Farthing Wood,
New trees growing in the corner.
Tender grasps of reality, few and far between
The river flowing in your ear.
