Title: A Soldiers Rest Author: poetry.share
A soldier's rest Once he marched upon this land Now it holds him tight. Fighting for his country Marching day and night. Gun fire swarmed around his head Bodies fell at his feet. He had to mourn in silence As he marched without retreat. Fire filled the sky at night Bullets ruled each day. Cloaked within a fox hole Sometimes he had to stay. No more now must he battle Or suffer in any way. His ashes placed among his friends His spirits with God today. Comments on "A Soldiers Rest"
