Waxing willows out of candles,
Branches drooping to the floor
Dusty rooms that smell of Sandal
Figures carved into the doors

Small grotesques haunt shelves in silence
Pocket paintings pox the walls
Creeping creatures flee the fragrance
Bred and spread by moldy mothballs

Softly sweet tunes crackle
Muffled by the weight of age
Outside, faintly cries a jackal
For the turning of a page
