Why have you not heard?
What ever happened?
Where have I gone?
When did I leave?

I’ve been away for a long time.
I thought I was a son, but was treated like one of the boys.
I gave up and left pain behind and went on.
Your Christmas Xerox letter was goodbye.

Your life was complex and left behind a boy.
As a man, he found being a trophy not an enough.
Love wasn’t feelings to be copied.
It’s not quantity but quality.

Your wedding was revenge to cause pain.
Wanting to share a period of joy,
To be proud, to be happy.
I was hurt and wanted you to hurt too.

Time passing gives reflective moments.
A time of need in years past.
Disruption, stability, life complexity.

The song “Cats in a Cradle” describes you and I as father and son.
Time to re-communicate.
