A thousand lights in a thousand nights,
Weaving their way across New York City.
Like a blaze, a fire
A thousand arrows to your heart's desire.
Almost as if they ask you to stay...

Like a lover, her dress of neon lights
She tempts you out into the night
Shows you the places where young angels tread
The disco lights flashing -
bright green, bright red.

Then she dumps you in the street.
Like an old toy with which she forgets to play
Even the angels leave, but I?
I stay.
Under your blanket, in the shadows of the night.
